About the DJI Avinox
Avinox is the e-bike drive system brand of DJI. It debuted in 2024 with the M1 drive unit and was expanded in April 2026 with the M2 and M2S. All units are mid-drive motors with an ISIS crank interface, a rated power of 250 W and an IP66 rating.
The M2S is the flagship: Avinox quotes 130 Nm in regular modes and 150 Nm in Boost, with up to 1,500 W peak power when paired with the high-discharge FP700 or RS800 battery (1,300 W with FS600/FS800). It uses flat-wire windings, a temperature sensor and redesigned cooling fins, plus a dual-meshing gear design intended to cut backlash and pedal-kickback noise.
The system combines an IMU and wheel-speed sensor with torque and cadence measurement to drive the Auto mode and traction-related features. Batteries come in 600, 700 and 800 Wh sizes, and an external 600 Wh range extender is offered. In Avinox's own test, a 75 kg rider on an 800 Wh battery in Auto mode covered about 60 km or roughly 1,440 m of climbing.
Avinox drives are used mainly on full-power trail and enduro bikes, initially from Amflow and later from other brands. The system suits riders who want maximum assistance and a connected ecosystem (GPS, 4G, app tuning), and who accept higher energy use when the extra power is used.

Strengths and drawbacks
Strengths
- + Highest published torque and peak power of the major e-MTB drives (M2S: 150 Nm / 1,500 W)
- + Low drive-unit weight for its output (about 2.5-2.65 kg)
- + Fast charging: 508 W charger fills an FP700 0-100% in about 1 h 46 min
- + Extensive app tuning with eight adjustable assist parameters
Drawbacks
- – Full M2S peak power requires the FP700 or RS800 battery
- – High energy consumption in Turbo/Boost shortens range
- – Third-party range extenders not supported; 4G features require a separate SIM

DJI Avinox: FAQ
What is the difference between the Avinox M2 and M2S?
The M2 delivers 110 Nm (125 Nm in Boost) and 1,100 W peak, while the M2S delivers 130 Nm (150 Nm in Boost) and up to 1,500 W peak. Avinox lists the M2 at 2.65 kg and the M2S at 2.59 kg.
Does the battery affect M2S power?
Yes. Avinox quotes 1,500 W peak only with the FP700 or RS800 battery; with the FS600 or FS800 battery the M2S peak is 1,300 W.
How long does Boost mode last?
Boost provides up to 60 seconds of maximum torque per activation; the duration can be adjusted in the Avinox Ride app.
Can I use a third-party range extender?
No. Avinox states its hardware and firmware are not compatible with third-party range extenders and that using one voids the warranty. Avinox offers its own 600 Wh extender.
