About the Bosch Performance Line CX-R
The Performance Line CX-R is Bosch's top racing-oriented e-MTB motor for the smart system, presented in 2025 for model year 2026. It is based on the CX Gen 5 platform but uses a titanium crank spindle, ceramic bearings and a magnesium housing, bringing weight to about 2.7 kg.
At launch it offered 100 Nm, 750 W and 400% support. With Bosch's free Performance Upgrade 2.0 (released 4 May 2026 via the eBike Flow app), maximum torque rose to 120 Nm and support to 600% up to 15 km/h, while peak power stayed at 750 W. The bike manufacturer must enable the higher values before riders can activate them.
Its signature feature is Race mode, with very direct response and Extended Boost for technical climbs; eMTB+ adds dynamic traction control. It works with the full smart system ecosystem, including PowerTube batteries up to 800 Wh and the PowerMore 250 range extender.
The CX-R targets enduro racers and performance-focused riders on premium full-power e-MTBs. For most riders the standard CX Gen 5 offers the same torque and power figures at a slightly higher weight.

Bosch Performance Line CX-R: FAQ
How is the CX-R different from the CX?
