Pinion MGU eMTBs
The Pinion Motor.Gearbox.Unit combines the motor and a 12-speed gearbox in one sealed housing, so there is no derailleur or cassette — most bikes run a Gates carbon belt instead of a chain.

About the Pinion MGU
The Pinion MGU (Motor Gearbox Unit) combines an e-bike motor with Pinion's sealed gearbox in one housing. It was introduced in 2023 in two versions: the E1.12 with 12 gears and 600% gear range, and the E1.9 with 9 gears, each also offered as an S-Pedelec variant.
Both deliver 85 Nm and 600 W peak with up to 400% support. Because shifting happens inside the unit, the bike needs no derailleur or cassette, can shift while stopped, and has less unsprung mass at the rear wheel.
The MGU is integrated through the FIT system, with batteries from 480 to 960 Wh depending on the bike, a 535 Wh range extender, a top-tube display and the FIT E-Bike Control app. Pinion firmware updates since 2023 have added rider-set speed limits, motor overrun (2024) and S-Pedelec overrun (2025).
The MGU suits riders who value low drivetrain maintenance, all-weather durability and simple shifting, such as tourers and trail riders who ride in mud. It is fitted to e-MTBs and trekking bikes from several brands that use the FIT system.
