How we make money
eMTB Magazine is free to read. It is funded by advertising and partnerships with shops, under rules that keep our editorial work independent.
This page explains where our income comes from and what advertisers and partners can and cannot do. Last updated: October 2026.
Nobody can pay for a review, a verdict or a better position in our rankings.
01Display advertising
Some pages show display ads, including ads served by Google AdSense. Ads are placed in clearly marked advertising slots and are labelled as advertisements.
Ads are selected by the ad network, not by our editors, and advertisers have no influence over our articles. In the EU and UK, personalised ads are shown only with your consent.
02Shop partnerships and affiliate links
Bike pages can show current offers from shops in the “Best prices” block. Retailers can list their prices at no cost through a partner account, and some links to shops may earn us a commission if you buy something. This never changes the price you pay.
Offers are always sorted by price, whether or not a shop pays us a commission. Shop links are marked as sponsored for search engines.
03Sponsored content and paid partnerships
If we publish content paid for by a brand or shop, it is clearly labelled as “Sponsored” or “Paid partnership” at the top of the page, so you know about the commercial relationship before you start reading. Sponsored content is never presented as an independent test.
04Test bikes and products
We buy many of the bikes we test ourselves, and some are later given away to our readers. When a brand loans or supplies a product, we disclose it in the article. Loans do not guarantee coverage or a positive verdict.
05What advertisers and partners cannot do
- Pay for a review, a score or a better position in a guide or comparison.
- See, edit or approve articles before publication.
- Have negative but accurate information removed.
- Influence which products appear in our catalog or how their specifications are shown.
06Editorial independence
Editorial decisions are made by our editors alone. Our standards for testing, sources and corrections are set out in the editorial policy.
