About the Specialized Turbo motors
Specialized develops its own drive systems for its e-MTBs. The full-power 3.1 motor arrived with the Turbo Levo 4 in 2024 and offers up to 111 Nm. The lighter SL 1.2, launched in 2023 and developed with MAHLE, powers the Levo SL and Kenevo SL.
The SL 1.2 delivers 50 Nm and 320 W peak, 33% more power and 43% more torque than the previous SL 1.1, at a motor weight of about 1.9 kg. It pairs with a 320 Wh battery and a 160 Wh range extender.
Both systems use the MasterMind TCU top-tube display, a bar remote and the Mission Control app. Riders choose Eco, Trail and Turbo modes and can fine-tune assistance in 10% steps with Micro-Tune.
The 3.1 suits riders wanting a full-power trail bike from Specialized, while the SL 1.2 targets riders who want a lighter bike that rides closer to a non-assisted mountain bike.
