Overview

TRP's four-piston Trail EVO, designed around the extra heat of e-bikes: 2.3 mm rotors, 10 mm lever piston, 307 g front; US$224.99 per brake.

TRP designed the Trail EVO for the specific needs of modern mountain bikes, explicitly citing the added speed and weight of an electric motor and battery, which makes such bikes generate more heat than a typical mountain bike. TRP says it is not a rebranded downhill brake but a system that combines its latest braking technology with know-how from the World Cup downhill circuit.

The four-piston caliper with stainless-steel pistons and optimised hydraulic flow is made for 2.3 mm rotors, with top-loading resin pads, 5 mm hose with banjo and newly formulated mineral oil. The lever has a 10 mm piston, adjustable reach, a hinged clamp, I-Spec II compatibility with an I-Spec EV adapter option and TRP/MMX shifter adapters. TRP quotes 307 g for the front brake.
