Overview
TRP's value four-piston Slate EVO, tuned for aggressive XC, trail and E-MTB with 2.3 mm rotors and 10 mm master piston, 307 g front; US$149.99 per brake.
The Slate EVO takes technology proven in World Cup downhill and tunes it for aggressive XC, trail and E-MTB bikes, with TRP promising a new level of modulation and braking power for the money. It received a new ergonomic lever blade, new pad compounds, new hydraulic oil, the 5 mm hose system, CNC-machined adapters and a revised oil flow inside the caliper.
The four-piston caliper with stainless-steel pistons is made for 2.3 mm rotors and top-loading resin pads (metallic pads are not compatible). The lever uses a 10 mm master piston, adjustable reach and a hinged clamp, with I-Spec B compatibility, an I-Spec EV adapter option and TRP/MMX shifter adapters. TRP quotes 307 g for the front brake.
