The Alutech ePelmo X1P is a 170 mm aluminium enduro e-MTB with no derailleur and no cassette. German frame builder Alutech has designed it around Gobao's X1P drive, a single magnesium-cased unit that combines the motor with an electronically controlled, continuously variable transmission (eCVT). Power reaches the rear wheel through a Gates belt.

The bike is now on pre-order. Complete bikes cost €11,999.95 in either the Enduro 29 or the Enduro MX (mullet) version, and a frameset is listed from €7,499.95. Alutech's online shop gives 7 April 2027 as the date from which bikes will be available.

Gobao X1P eCVT: motor and gearbox in one

Alutech lists the X1P at 150 Nm of maximum torque, 1,500 W peak power and 3.85 kg. Its gear range reaches up to 500 %, and it supports cadences above 120 rpm. Shifting is stepless: in automatic mode the rider sets a preferred cadence and the system holds it, while a manual mode is there for riders who want to choose the ratio themselves. Alutech points to fewer wearing parts and no jumps between gears as the main gains.

The battery is Gobao's 750 Wh BT750FS (3.6 kg), which comes out of the down tube. With the 30 A charger, Alutech quotes 0–50 % in 16 minutes and 0–80 % in 28 minutes. A connectivity unit in the top tube pairs the bike with a smartphone app that offers unlocking, tracking, an alarm, geofence alerts and remote shut-off of motor support.

Gearbox drives are a wider theme at Alutech: the brand is also one of the first two to use the Intradrive GD8 eight-speed motor-gearbox.

A frame built around the drive

Alutech says the ePelmo X1P is a new aluminium platform, not an existing frame with a different motor. Its own belt tensioner sits inside the frame, which the company says keeps the chainstays short and the ground clearance high. The motor covers have ducts to help cool the drive on long climbs.

The Horst-link rear end has 170 mm of travel. It is paired with a RockShox ZEB Ultimate fork and a RockShox Vivid Coil Ultimate shock. Other parts include SRAM Maven Ultimate brakes with 220/200 mm rotors, DT Swiss FR541 rims, Maxxis Assegai and Minion DHR II tyres, and a BikeYoke Revive 3.0 dropper. Alutech rates the bike Category 5 and claims a weight from 23 kg.

Price and availability

The first 50 bikes make up a Signature Series, with each frame welded by Alutech managing director Jürgen Schlender. An early-bird Launch Edition price of €10,799.95 applied to orders up to 15 October 2026. The regular price is €11,999.95 (Germany, VAT included), and buyers outside Germany may pay different shipping costs. Bikes come in brushed raw aluminium; a single-colour RAL powder coat (+€249.90) or black anodising (+€360.50) cost extra, and the decals come in eight colours.
