Glentress, just outside Peebles in the Tweed Valley, is the best-known of Scotland's 7stanes trail centres, run by Forestry and Land Scotland.

Trails

There are four waymarked loops: green 3.5 km, blue 16 km, red 18 km and black 29 km, plus shorter "taster" blue, red and black trails near the Gateway building. A skills area with green, blue and red sections and a kids' zone was added as part of the Glentress Masterplan.

E-bikes

Forestry and Land Scotland's Glentress pages do not set out an e-bike policy, so we mark it as unconfirmed. Local businesses cater for e-bikers: according to the Ridelines guide, E-Bike Hire Scotland at The Glentress Hotel rents Bosch e-bikes (625 Wh minimum), offers spare batteries and free charging for your own e-bike, and Alpine Bikes hires e-bikes at the foot of the trails.

Before you go

There is no uplift โ€” you climb under your own (and your motor's) power. Check Forestry and Land Scotland's local alerts for closures before you ride.
