BikePark Wales, in the Gethin Woodland near Merthyr Tydfil, describes itself as having the UK's largest and most diverse selection of descending MTB trails, graded from green to black. The summit sits at 491 m, and with the uplift riders can log more than 3,500 vertical metres a day.

E-bikes welcome — with conditions

E-bikes are allowed if they meet the EN15194 pedelec standard: a maximum of 250 W, assistance up to 25 km/h and no throttle (a 6 km/h walk-assist is fine). E-bike riders must be 14 or older.

No uplift for e-bikes

E-bikers don't use the vehicle uplift. Instead they buy a higher-priced e-bike day pass and pedal up the 4.6 km climb trail, which takes about 20–40 minutes. The park explains the extra cost by the fact that e-bikes don't generate uplift revenue. We could not find a current price for the e-bike pass.

Practical

The park is open year-round; in summer it closes at 5 pm, earlier in winter. Bike hire is available if booked ahead, but we could not confirm e-bike hire or charging on site.
