Giant has introduced a new generation of the Trance Advanced E+, alongside the women's-specific Liv Intrigue Advanced E+. Both are carbon full-power trail bikes with 150 mm of rear travel, a 160 mm fork and a 29" front / 27.5" rear wheel in every size. The headline is the drive unit: the new SyncDrive Pro 4, developed with Yamaha, rated at 850 W peak and 120 Nm on a 48 V system.
SyncDrive Pro 4 motor
Giant quotes a motor weight of 2.4 kg and says peak power is held up to a cadence of 140 rpm. The system offers five assist modes plus walk mode and a traction-control function. The Trance uses a removable 840 Wh EnergyPak (3.7 kg); the Liv version gets a 560 Wh pack (2.6 kg) with a 280 Wh range extender included. For the Trance the extender is optional (£500).
Chassis and features
The frame keeps Giant's dual-link Maestro suspension with a 185 x 55 mm trunnion shock, a 443 mm rear centre across all sizes and a three-position flip-chip; the low setting gives a 64.1° head angle. Other details include an electronic dropper post, an integrated bar/stem with adjustable reach (40/45/50 mm) and roll, tyre-pressure monitoring, a KMC chain rated to 300 Nm and 72-tooth titanium-ratchet hubs. Claimed weights are 21.9 kg for the Trance Advanced E+ 0 and 20 kg for the Intrigue Advanced E+ 0. Top builds use SRAM XO AXS and TRP EVO Pro brakes.
